I bought an early version of this product because I was tired of the alternative devices I had for frothing and mixing. All were bulky and a pain to clean. The Cafe Luxe frother was a breeze to use and to clean afterwards. It worked as advertised and I ended up buying three more to give as gifts. It arrives in pretty cool packaging and comes with a recipe book, so actually makes for a perfect gift. I have also used it for a protein shake where it performed very well, but I did not add any ice. Also had a quick question for customer service and they were pretty helpful and responsive. All in all, a pretty convenient device and well worth the price tag. Highly recommend.

review

My wife's caramel macchiato obsession is no longer breaking the bank, thanks to this little gadget. First of all, for those who say it won't stir, it's not a stirrer, it's meant to whip air into the milk. Raise it up until the spring at the end is just barely at the top of the milk. Don't go too high, or you're getting splattered. You'll know when it's right, the milk will almost instantly start to increase in volume.

Here's how you make one of those caramel things for a lot less than five bucks. The first thing you should do is order the real caramel syrup. Some of the stores will sell it to you in the bottle if you ask, or you can order it. Get caramel syrup and caramel sauce. Spend the money, you'll be glad you did. I also get vanilla, but that's up to you-some people don't need it. She likes hers extra sweet, so this recipe uses splenda.

Fill a 16 ounce cup about half way up with milk, stick it in the microwave for 30 seconds. While that's going, fire up the Keurig, and brew the smallest cup you can (4 oz is perfect). Now go back to the microwave, remove the milk, add 1 and 1/2 pumps of caramel (we use sugar free) syrup, and 1/2 pump of vanilla, also sugar free. Add three Splenda packets (I told you she likes it sweet). Back in the microwave for 40 seconds it goes.

Now get out your shiny new frother, and foam the milk. It should come up to about 2/3rds full. This only takes a few seconds.

Dump the coffee straight down the middle

Top with whipped topping (if desired)

pour on caramel drizzle, and you've just made your first one!

Build quality is decent, and it really does spin fast enough to foam the milk

Epica Automatic Electric Milk Frother and Heater Carafe

Epica Automatic Electric Milk Frother and Heater Carafe

Product Description

Luscious lattes, creamy cappuccinos and more ... get the gourmet coffee experience in your own home with the Epica Electric Milk Frother & Heater Carafe.

3 Settings: Hot Froth, Cold Froth, Hot Milk

Many milk frothers only give you the option of hot foam. But the Epica expands your possibilities by letting you make the froth either hot or cold. So it's perfect for topping off iced coffee or trendy cocktails, as well as cappuccino or hot cocoa. The heavy-duty motor makes luxuriously thick, creamy and long-lasting froth from whole milk. It will even froth low-fat and non-dairy milks such as soy or almond milk. You may never buy whipping cream again!

Stainless Steel Construction with Vacuum Insulation

Rugged stainless steel is as stylish as it is easy to clean and hard to wear out. The carafe is vacuum insulated (like a thermos) to help keep the milk or froth hot or cold.

Carafe Detaches from Base for Easy Pouring

Some electric frothers are difficult to handle because the cord gets in your way. The Epica solves that problem with a detachable carafe. Simply lift it off the base and carry it to wherever you want to pour your froth or hot milk.

Sized for Home Use

The Epica heats about 1 cup (8.5 oz./250 ml.) of milk at a time, perfect for serving yourself or your family. For frothing, use half that amount (4.25 oz./125 ml.) because the milk will double in volume as it foams. Level indicators show you when you have it right.

2-Year Warranty

We guarantee that you'll be satisfied with the Epica's performance and durability. Happy frothing, heating ... and sipping!

Epica frother is so quiet that if you don't look at it you would not know it was working. It makes very fine froth with small bubbles. I have been using a hand held frother for years and by comparison Epica frother generates smaller denser bubbles. What you see in the video is froth from soy milk. Whole milk, of course, makes the thickest creamiest foam, soy milk and almond milk also work with less dense bubbles.

The instructions on cleaning said not to submerge the frother in water. I thought this will make clean up difficult, but it is not. I angled it under the running water and then wipe it with a soapy sponge. As long as I do this fairly quickly after the froth was made the clean-up is easy.

The max and min amount of milk are marked on the container. The minimum is 1/3 cup of milk, the maximum is 2/3 cup. The frother has two modes to generate heated froth or cold froth. The frother can also be used to warm milk without frothing (minimum of 1/3 cup and maximum of 1 1/4 cup). If you want to just warm the milk do not insert the frother spring.

This silent frother is provided by Epica. Epica offers a 2 year warranty on the frother.

review

Yes, it is true, not all milk frothers are created equal. I have learned this the hard way. Some are bulky, others have blown out on me, while others, just don't do what they're supposed to. I had the wonderful opportunity to try the MatchDNA brand of a milk frother. I am sure glad I did too. This frother is nice and small, so it will fit into a drawer very easy for storage. I really liked that feature because I don't like to have a ton of products in my kitchen everywhere. This is battery operated as well, which is the first of it's kind I have seen. I like that as well because I am not trying to keep a cord out of the way which is great. I am able to angle the frother as I should. It takes two AA batteries which is something that is around anyone's home. Even with the batteries, this is still very light weight. To change batteries, the plastic part just slide out, so there is easy access to them. The frother part itself loos small but it really does a great job.

After using this, I really like this brand of milk frother. It is small, compact, and does a really great job doing as it should. Not too many of these wonderful utensils can. I would recommend this for any hot drink lover so they too can bask in the foamy richness of their favorite drink.

Don't buy a frothing pitcher that doesn't have a pour spout! We love this pitcher and it pours without making a mess. 20oz is full to the top, so when making large lattes for two we usually end-up doing a pitcher and a half. If you regularly brew two large lattes, you might want a 32oz pitcher.

I have to admit, a Frother for a little over six dollars? Can't be that good and then it arrived in the mail. I then was sure my suspicions were correct because it was so small. So....I loaded two AA batteries and gave it a try in a cup of chocolate. Wow, did I change my opinion in a hurry. It did indeed create a creamy matcha DNA. What a great little gadget for the price

review

I love both cappuccino and Cuban coffee, so when I was offered a review sample I jumped at the opportunity. This is a heavy, quality heater and frother that does much more than heat and froth milk. However I will cover heating and frothing first.

It comes equipped with two small whisks - one for frothing milk and the other for just heating it (the heating whisk helps distribute the heat evenly.) The default configuration out of the box is heating. The frothing whisk is stored in the lid of the machine. That one will froth cold or hot milk. There are limits on the amount of milk this will hold and as soon as you peer inside about half or less of the jug is for milk and the remainder is heating element and internal timers, etc. So your total capacity for milk is 125ml, or about 4.25 ounces. It's double that for cold frothed milk. It heats the milk to about 150 degrees F, which is perfect for Cuban coffee and cappuccino. Note: if you do use this for heating you need about two minutes between loads to allow the thermostat to cool and reset.

Cleaning is a snap, but know that it needs to be hand washed and definitely not immersed in water. It also has to be hand dried. Although the heating whisk is stored in the lid I decided to store mine in a drawer. Just don't lost it or the other one because I am not sure how easy either is to replace.

In the opening paragraph I mentioned that this does much more than froth milk. It's perfect for blending eggs, a touch of cream and optional flour (I use a pinch of Gold Medal Wondra Flour) for perfect omelets. For one thing the 150 degree (F) temperature thickens the consistency of the egg, cream and flour as it heats and froths. When you do pour it in a pan it quickly cooks and you are rewarded with a thick and fluffy omelet. A masterpiece, in fact. If you decide to use it for this purpose I recommend using large eggs, which are 2 ounces (about 50ml) apiece, versus the 2.25 and above ounces for extra large and jumbo. This will allow you to not waste eggs while enriching them with cream (or milk if you are so inclined.)

Regardless of how you use this, it's sure to make anyone who loves a good cappuccino or cafe Cubano con leche very pleased. Mine is now a permanent part of my kitchen.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

Let me get the one flaw of this little machine out of the way, the same one others have identified: it is difficult to see the max fill line for hot foam. The solution is fairly simply; simply pour in just enough to cover the top of the frothed whisk mounting post, and never worry about squinting in early morning kitchen light again. Because the mounting post is black, it is very easy to see when you are about to fully submerge it in milk. If you want more liquid than foam, the latté line is easier to see. I have had other milk frothers, and all have been decent. This is the first one I can say is actually excellent at what it purports to do. Small, elegant-looking on your countertop, very easy to clean, fast working, kid-friendly, push-and-walk-away, and almost dead silent, it is a joy to use compared to every other frother I have owned. Generally speaking, I like to steam my own milk. I have a Kees van der Westen Speedster espresso machine in my kitchen, and it is a true steam beast [unlike most home espresso machines]. It's so good, that it is a ritualistic pleasure in the morning to steam. And for latté microfoam, it cannot be beat, even by the Kuissential. But late at night, or early on the weekend, and for complete 10-out-of-10 times reliable cappuccino foam, the Kuissential is the winner.

A couple of caveats: it will foam any kind of cow milk, including skim, extremely well. It also works well with Blue Diamond almond milk, both sweetened and flavored. The chocolate makes a great hot chocolate for the kids. But Califioa Farms almond milk is a complete bust in the Kuissential. I liked the Kuissential so much, I ordered a second one for my girlfriend's kitchen, and I tested the Califia Farms in both locations. Blue Almond, fine. Califia, no go. Also, make sure to use a non-scouring sponge for cleaning the non-stick surface. The right sponge cleans the milk skin off easily, but you don't want to scratch the non-stick surface.

I just got the box from Amazon, pulled out my new Aerolatte, removed the protective cover from the battery compartment (yeah, it even comes pre-loaded with a pair of "aerolatte" double A's!), and put about 2 oz of NON-FAT (skim) milk in a glass.

I nuked the milk for about 20 seconds, pulled it from the microwave, stuck the aerolatte in the glass and pushed the switch.

DANG!!

Nearly INSTANT foam. GOBS of it. It formed PEAKS!! You could make small milk-animals out of it.

I really can't believe how well this thing works. The only thing that would ruin it for me is if it simply fell apart after a few uses, but frankly, with a little bit of care, it looks like it'll hold up. We'll see.

But in the meantime, call me Doctor Foam.

-Jonathan Sabin

UPDATE ***9 MONTHS LATER***

Notwithstanding the complaints of people who claim that their aerolatte lasted about 5 minutes, I just replaced the batteries for the first time since buying it back in January. (Yes, it still works, but I was disappointed that I was no longer able to make foam-animals!)

Well a couple of fresh Duracells later, and I sound like a deranged dentist with this thing in my hand. The "buzz" I had become accustomed to, is now a high-pitched whizzing sound, that actually made my molars uncomfortable.

But I'm back to making some seriously decent foam again!

In the last few years, I have spent a lot of days and weeks and weekends in Germany, where I came to know the beauty of late morning wake ups and the frothy milk topped coffee from the home milk frother. No one I know US had one, but in Germany they are a common household item that you see everywhere.

I've had my eye on these for a while, and finally got this one. It is easy to use, has clear novice instructions on the back of the box and has an instruction manual inside if you need more re-assurance. I was easily able to froth 1/4-1/3 cup of iced vanilla latte into 3/4 cup in very little time. The recommendation of about 20 seconds is accurate. This frother has more than enough power to froth any drink you like in any volume you like.

The tip of the frother does spin, not vibrate, like a mini version of the hand held blenders that are popular. It worked perfectly and as hoped, and I expect to make lots of interesting hot chocolate and other hot/cold/mixed drinks in the days to come. It has a rubberized texture and was of the expected quality. I have attached a video to show the frothing power. Impressive!

If you have any questions please leave them below and I will answer them ASAP.

By a lot of hard hours and days and years of time spent reviewing, I found myself in the top 10 reviewers on Amazon. This wasn't a goal or self promotion, but by nose-down focused reviewing. I occasionally get contacted by manufacturers or sellers who appreciate my way of reviewing and ask if I'll consider reviewing a product for them, with no obligation or cost. This is one of those products. I assure you that I review what I want, when I want, how I want, in order to share what I feel is the most accurate useful information.

The SlickFroth doesn't cost as much as other milk frothers, but it seems to perform just as well. I have friends who have used the Aerolatte brand and others using the Ikea model, this Kuissential frother seemed like a nice middle ground to try out. The SlickFroth took some getting used to (which is probably true the first time using any frother), but once you get the hang of it, its like riding a bike. I use the frother a few times a week, especially on the weekends, for a fancy start to the day for the family and it has performed admirably every time. I've attached a video of the 2nd or 3rd time using the SlickFroth (I've gotten much better at making froth since then!)

I bought this milk frother largely because of its stainless steel look, and price is good. The quality is beyond my expectation, and it works just as expected. I have used manual forther before, this frother makes consistent creamy long-lasting foam. All I need to do is pour milk in right out of fridge and press the button. Other things I like: It makes hot froth and cold froth. There is a spout for easy pouring. Cleaning is easy too, and there is a brush come in the package for reaching and cleaning under the rotation drive.

I bought this "stainless steel" pitcher instead of a more expensive one. I got it 5 days ago and have used it to steam milk approximately 9 times since then. I have not run it through the dishwasher at all, but have washed it by hand. The handle is already rusting where it joins with the body of the pitcher! Also, the "spout" is nowhere near as pronounced as in the photo, making it more like pouring out of a plain drinking glass than out of a pitcher.

Definitely regretting going cheaper on this purchase. :(
